November 20 - Medicine Hat, Alberta - 5000km!!!!

Well the weather in Alberta has so far been a bit better, but because we are now on Mountain Time we have lost an hour of daylight every day.  It is harder trying to squeeze in the kilometers before dark.  On the bright side (no pun intended) the local radios having been providing tons of support and alot of people are waving and honking as they pass Lori on the road.

November 24 - Bassano - 5,200 km

Lori says,"I'm really cruisin' right now! The weather has been pretty cooperative, all things considered, and it is allowing me to maintain a good pace.  Maybe the weather doesn't matter and it's just the fact that Chris and I can't wait to get home to see our families!  We took in another WHL hockey game. We saw the Medicine Hat Tigers and Portland Winterhawks. I had a table set up this time and the announcer told the crowd all about the trek. We had a constant crowd of people around us all night and it was a tremendous success!"

December 3 - Calgary - 5350 km

Comments from Lori - "I can see the mountains!  It's now a whole new ballgame as I walk through the foothills towards the Rocky Mountains.  I'm tired but I'm hangin' in there.  Chris and I are dealing with the symptoms of MS on a daily basis and it is now difficult to compete 35 km per day due to my condition, the short days, and lack of daylight.  Rest assured that safety is now my number one priority.  Thanks to the MS groups around Calgary for a wonderful welcome.  I am now nearing the last 1000 km of my trek, and this is the type of inspiration I need to keep me going.

December 11 - Lake Louise - 5500 km

Although this section of the Trek takes Lori through the most dangerous section of the TransCanada Highway, Lori is enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Rocky Mountains.  She says, "I've done nothing but climb into the mountains this past week.  I hit the Scott Lake Hill summit earlier in the week (elevation 4620 ft.) and will climb a little higher yet.  The road conditions have been manageable and I am still able to do about 30 km per day.  What a setting!  I am surrounded by snow and gorgeous peaks."  Being so close to the BC border is great motivation too!
